Clayton Lee White, age 53, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2013. Clayton is survived by his mother, Virginia, and sister, Sandy, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and preceded in death by his father, Jim. Clayton was a beloved member of his extended family, which included aunts and uncles Bob Morgan, Maudie and Jack Yarbrough, Jim and Diane Smith, Frank and Beth Smith, Judy and Clifford Smith, Shirley Catlett, Estelle White, and Martha White. He is also survived by many cousins and other relatives, who mark his passing with fond remembrance and affection.
Clayton was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma almost 4 years ago. He raged a fierce battle against this terrible disease, always determined to continue to fight. There were many highs and lows, but Clayton kept an optimistic spirit through it all.
Clayton attended Tulsa Public Schools, and graduated from Washington High School. There he played trumpet in the marching band, and was a member of the golf team. He continued his academic journey at the University of Tulsa, graduating in 1986 with a BS in management information systems.
Clayton’s first job out of college was at Deluxe Check Printers, beginning in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He continued with the company, transferring to the corporate headquarters in the suburbs of St. Paul, Minnesota. He has resided in the St. Paul area since that time, working at various positions, and most recently employed as a mortgage closer with Home Services Lending, affiliated with Wells Fargo.
Clayton enjoyed many sports, including golf, bowling, and football, but baseball was his most enduring love. He played little league baseball, and continued to follow the sport, especially his favorite team, the St. Louis Cardinals.
Clayton was a great friend to many people, in all areas of his life. He stayed close with his fraternity brothers, and enjoyed traveling and visiting with them. He was held in great regard by his work family, where he fought hard to continue to work in spite of his disease. He was beloved by the medical staff who gave him such excellent medical care, and who appreciated his optimism and humor during his extended illness. He also leaves behind a large circle of caring friends in the St. Paul area.
Clayton was a wonderful son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend to all of us who loved him dearly. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
