Funeral services for Clarence Sammie “Sam” Barnes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Summitt Park Full Gospel Church with Pastor Charles Conley, officiating. Interment will follow in the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Sam Barnes, age 86, of Tulsa, passed away at 6:48 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the St. John Medical Center in Tulsa.

Sam was born December 30, 1930 in Gans, Oklahoma to Dawson Fillmore and Daisy Lou (Martin) Barnes. Sam grew up and received his education in Gans. Sam married Lucille Modina Martin on November 2, 2013 in Tulsa, Oklahoma where they have made their home since that time. Sam was self-employed where he worked in construction and carpentry since he was 17 and he retired at the age of 50 due to a construction accident. Sam liked playing the guitar and had a love for music and often times played at church, he liked to fish; go coon hunting and making gardens. Sam was a member of the Summitt Park Full Gospel Fellowship Church.

Sam was preceded in death by his mother and father, 9 brothers and sisters, 1 son: Allen Clay Barnes and by one grandson Blake.

Sam is survived by his wife Lucille of the home, 3 children: Virginia Elliott and husband Lewis, Ellen Foster and Judy Nelson and husband Roger, 5 step children, 11 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are: Brian Johnson, Michael Johnson, Michael Myers, Kerry Porter, Steve Ritchey, Eddie Foster, Colin Myers and Allen Clay Barnes Jr.

Music for the services will be: “Amazing Grace” performed by: Terry Tolbert, “Mercy Walked On Water” performed by Pastor Charles Conley and “Go Rest High On That Mountain”.
