Calvin M. Shelton

Calvin M. Shelton, age 93, of Skiatook, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Skiatook.

Memorial services will be scheduled for Calvin Shelton at a later date. Private family interment will be held Friday, April 10, 2020 at the Osage Gardens Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Calvin was born February 24, 1927 in Sperry, Oklahoma to Virgil and Mary (Willhite) Shelton. Calvin grew up and received his education in Skiatook. Calvin entered into the United States Army on June 25, 1945 and received his honorable discharge on January 27, 1946. Calvin also re-entered into the United States Army on January 28, 1946 and received his honorable discharge on March 1, 1947. Calvin married Jessie Lee Delk on April 2, 1947 in Skiatook where they had made their home since that time. Calvin had been employed with Buzzard Chevrolet, Bill Bucks Garage in Sperry and for Douglas. Calvin was employed with Eddie and Betty Peters at the Peters Funeral Home in Skiatook from 1966 and remained with the Peters-Stumpff Funeral Home until October of 1999 when he was employed with the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home where he was a Funeral Directors Assistant until his retirement. Calvin was a member of the Skiatook V.F.W., Skiatook American Legion, Presbyterian Church and the Church of The Nazarene. Calvin loved working with wood making tables, cabinets and things for people and loved working in his garden.

Calvin was preceded in death by his mother and father, wife; Jessie Lee Shelton, daughter; Sherian Russell, brothers; Kenneth, George and Virgil "Cub" and sisters; LaQuita, Dorlene and Nancy.

Calvin is survived by his son-in-law; Jim Russell, siblings; Peggy Killion, Vi Nail, Hope Flatt, Joyce Barlow and Clifton Shelton, two grandchildren; Greg and Rikki, one great granddaughter; Sidney, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
