Billy Gene Thornton, age 83, of Turley, passed away Wednesday, September 25, 2019 in Tulsa.

Celebrating the life of Billy Gene Thornton will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at the First Baptist Church West Rogers Campus with Pastor Lester Orwig officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Billy Gene Thornton was born February 20, 1936 in Turley, Oklahoma to Floyd and Merle (Walker) Thornton. Billy grew up and received his education in Tulsa graduating from Central High School in 1954. Billy was employed with Thornton Tooling and Production as a machinist and owner. Billy loved driving race cars. To his fan’s they knew him as “Bill Thunder Thornton”. Billy was a junker collecting all kinds of stuff but if you needed something Billy usually had it. Billy also loved gardening, fishing and he loved his two dogs; Susie and Sammy.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother and father; Floyd and Merle Thornton and one brother; Robert Thornton.

Billy is survived by his two children; Billy Dale Thornton and Brian Lee Thornton and wife Brandy, three sisters; Glenda Terrill, Norma Crockett and Diane Hixson and husband Edd, three brothers; Wayne Thornton and wife Mary, Jimmy Thornton and wife Karen and Johnny Thornton, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
