Funeral services for Billy Joe Barnes will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at the Hillside Cemetery with Chaplain Steven Griffith, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.

Billy Joe Barnes, age 81, of Skiatook, died at 12:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at his Skiatook residence.

Billy was born October 30, 1933 in Jay, Oklahoma to Simon Peter and Ivy Nell (Metzger) Barnes. Billy grew up and received his education in Skiatook. Billy married Sylven Marie Bright on June 16, 1956 in Alluwe, Oklahoma making their home in Skiatook since that time. Billy was employed with Flint Steel where he worked in the maintenance department. Billy was also employed with the Town of Skiatook where he worked in the Parks Department. Billy liked fishing and tinkering with things and keeping up his yard.

Billy was preceded in death by his mother and father, three brothers and by two sisters.

Billy is survived by his wife: Sylven of the home, two children: Billy Jack Barnes and Lorie Barnes, one brother: Donald Barnes, three sisters: Lorine Shade, Dorothy Peace and Marjorie Seymour, three grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Music for the services will be: “I Saw The Light” and “The Old Country Church”.

Casket escorts will be: Dakota Barnes, Dennis Carlisle, Floyd Carlisle, Kyle Blakeman, Jerry Magee and Keith Johnson.

Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
