Funeral service for Bettie Jane Brown will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6th, 2020 at New Beginnings Church in Bixby, Ok with Pastor James Poulin officiating. There will be a short graveside service at her final resting place immediately following the service.
Bettie Jane Brown, 81, of Skiatook, OK passed away Thursday, January 30th, 2020 at Clarehouse in Tulsa, OK with family at her bedside.
Bettie was born June 9, 1938 in Huntington, WV to Clarence Edwin and Della Ellen (Mahome) Davis. She grew up and received her education in Huntington, WV. Bettie married Robert Bragg and gave birth to two sons during their marriage. She later married Edward Monk and gave birth to a son and daughter during their marriage. She finally married the love of her life Lonnie Brown on October 20, 1978. Lonnie and Bettie made their home in Skiatook most of their married life. Bettie was a homemaker and loved spending time with her family. She was so full of life, very generous and had a gypsy soul that kept her always ready for the next move or adventure. Bettie cherished the small things in life. She was honored to have a great granddaughter, Kylie Jane King, as her namesake.
Bettie was preceded in death by her mother and father: Clarence and Della, four brothers: Bud Davis, Ed Davis, Marion Davis, Johnny Davis, and two stepsons: Ed Monk and Jim Monk.
Bettie is survived by her husband: Lonnie Brown, children: Carl Bragg and wife Michelle, Willie Bragg and wife Stephanee, Jackie Monk and wife Tammy, and Kim (Monk) Tulk, grandchildren: Christopher Turley and wife April, Christina (Turley) Hernandez and husband Angel who were raised with the help and support of Bettie. three sisters: Patty Liston and husband Charlie, Sue Gordon, and Rosie Galloway and husband Ronnie, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers for the service will be her grandsons: Josh Bragg, Jeremy Bragg, Matt Bragg, Travis Bragg, Jack Monk, Chris Turley, Justin Tulk and two great grandsons: Christopher Turley and Dominick King.
Honorary Pallbearers will be: Carl Bragg, Willie Bragg, and Jackie Monk.
The family of Bettie Jane Brown entrusted her care and services to the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
