Benita Valda (Jeremics) Zingerman

Benita V, Zingerman, age 92, of Skiatook went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, January 12, 2024 at 7:05 P.M. at The Highlands Of Owasso.

Benita V. Zingerman Benita Valda (Jeremics) Zingerman was born on October 17, 1931 in Riga, Latvia. She loved Latvia but her family was forced to escape Latvia as the Russian Communists were over-taking the country. They went to Germany where they remained in a displaced person’s camp until immigrating to the United States in 1949. They resided in Tennessee where she worked while learning English and attended high school, then the family moved to New York where she attended college and graduated with a BA in Chemistry. She was working in a research lab in 1959 when she met and married James Zingerman from Manhattan. The two remained married for over 50 years until James’ passing in 2015. They had three sons and lived on a farm in upstate New York. Benita went back to get her MA in Chemistry and worked as a high school teacher. They moved to Virginia in 1987 where they retired then transitioned from life in the Northeast to an apple orchard in the Northwest to be near their son, Jim and family. After several years in Washington, they moved to Oklahoma to be near their son, Scott and family, and remained in Eastern Oklahoma until her death. Benita was a strong believer in Jesus Christ and openly shared her faith. She loved playing cards, reading, painting, music, gardens, animals and children. She was fiercely devoted to her family and is preceded in death by her parents, Karlis and Emilija Jeremics, sister Rita, son Bruno, and husband James Zingerman. She is survived by her brother Arnis Jeremics (Eileen), sister Inta Cloud (Jesse), son James Zingerman (Linda), and son Scott Zingerman (Lisa). She has four grandchildren Jordan Zingerman (Kelsey), Aaron Zingerman, Scott Andrew Zingerman (Cailyn), and Jenna Zingerman Bogue (Daniel). She has three great grandchildren Hunter and Hazel Zingerman, and Nash Zingerman, two great-granddaughters due in a matter of weeks as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was a brilliant woman who was a survivor, but was always looking forward to being reunited with the love of her life, James, and her beloved son, Bruno. She treasured the verse, “I am the resurrection and the life, sayeth the Lord; he that believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live, and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die”.
