Anita Mae Bennett
Anita Mae Bennett, resident of Skiatook passed away Monday morning July 28, 2014 at St. Johns Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 81.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Church of God, 624 South Javine, Skiatook, OK.
Interment will follow at the Woodland Cemetery in Cleveland, OK with Reverend Lewis Bernard and Reverend William Vance, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
Anita was born September 29th, 1932 in Bethany, OK the daughter of Leo and Minnie (Story) Tate. She attended school in Bethany and graduated in 1950 in Putnam City.
On September 29th, 1951 she married Richard S. Bennett. They made their home in Fairfax, OK for many years where they owned and operated the Tastee Freeze. Anita also worked for the City of Fairfax for 30 years before retiring in 2002.
Anita enjoyed gardening, cooking, and loved the outdoors. She loved her family and had a servant’s heart. She loved helping others.
She enjoyed traveling until becoming ill in 2009. She fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last 5 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Twila Roberson (John), two sons, Stan Bennett (Suzy) and Jimmy Bennett, two brothers, Dean Tate (Goldie) and Dan Tate, one step brother, Richard Teas (Deloris), and one step sister, Deloris Weimers, grandchildren, Scott Bennett (Elisa), Josh Bennett (Dana), Kassie Bennett, Jenifer Roberson, Shannon Lankford (Rick), Eric Bennett (Stormy), Justin Bennett, ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, step mother Opal and husband Richard.
Casket escorts are: Scott Bennett, Justin Bennett, Josh Bennett, Payton Terry, Eric Bennett and Drake Wilmot- Bennett.
Funeral services and interment are under the direction of the Sien-Shelton Funeral Home.
