Alice Mae Haley, age 95, of Skiatook, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at the Skiatook Nursing Home.
Alice was born May 13, 1918 in Hominy, Oklahoma to Samuel and Callie (Cooper) Jenkins. Alice grew up and received her education in Hominy, graduating from high school in 1936 where she was the Salutatorian. Alice married Burney O. Haley in November of 1942 in Tulsa, making their home in Tulsa until moving to Skiatook in 1965 where she has lived since that time. Alice was employed with the Oklahoma State Department Of Human Services where she was a secretary from 1963 to her retirement in 1980. Alice liked reading, gardening, ceramics, genealogy and quilting. Alice was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was active with the church choir, United Methodist Women and Chums.
Alice was preceded in death by her mother, father, husband, two sisters and by three brothers.
Alice is survived by her three children: Dianne Campbell of Broken Arrow, Patricia Dent of Tulsa and Danny Haley and wife Vicki of Skiatook, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Music for the services: “Amazing Grace”, “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Abide With Me”.
