Aaron Paul Goodell

December 1, 1978 — July 25, 2023

Aaron Goodell, age 44, passed from this life on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his home in Brandon, South Dakota. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

Aaron was born on December 1, 1978 in Bartlesville, Oklahoma to parents Herman “Andy” Goodell and Leslie “Lynne” McGuire. Aaron graduated from Nowata, Oklahoma and lived most of his life in Skiatook, Oklahoma before moving to Brandon, South Dakota.

Aaron had a huge heart and cared for everyone around him. He loved his children more than anything. He was most at peace in the outdoors from fishing for walleye to hunting whatever was in season and floating for sand dollars along North Captiva Island. He was the “Jack of All Trades” and could fix/do/create/invent anything at the drop of a dime. His smile was contagious and spirit of adventure un-matched. His passion and love to figure all things out, no matter what the challenge, inspired others to follow. His dream was to deep sea fish and live along the Gulf of Mexico in Florida. If he was here right now to give us a message, he would say “It’s a good day because we are six foot above the dirt.”

Aaron is survived by his wife; Jill Goodell; ex-wife, Nikki Goodell; children, Courtney and husband Harry Agnew, Hunter Goodell, Abigail Goodell, Colton Goodell and Dalton Goodell; stepchildren, Caden Smorawske and Taryn Smorawske; grandchildren, Carsyn and Carter Agnew; mother, Lynne and stepfather Bill McGuire; siblings, Jason and wife Corie Goodell, Garett  and wife Shawn Fanning, Kenzie Fanning, Skyler and wife Madison Fanning, Sara and husband Colt Herren, Brett Goodell, and Emilee Goodell; step-siblings, Alan McGuire, Christina McGuire and partner Kim Hicks, Brianda and wife Tasha Kitchen and Brandon Fanning; parents-in-law, Tod and Peggy Hlavacek; and many nieces and nephews and more extended family and friends all over. He was preceded in death by his daughter Gabrielle Goodell; father, Herman “Andy” Goodell, and step-mother, Sylvia Goodell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Hunt Foundation.
